Before, when users put their palms on the screen for at least three seconds, the Cover to Mute feature would be turned on. Most important, when an alarm goes off, the watch mutes all sounds. Cover to Mute can be turned on or off in your Apple Watch's Settings app.
NO MORE SLEEPING IN: THE APPLE WATCHOS 9.4 UPDATE ENDS OVERSLEEPING
Apple cares about how its Watch users sleep. We're not making this up. The truth is in the latest WatchOS 9.4 release notes. In short, the Cover to Mute feature won't work if you set your Watch alarm to Sleep Focus mode. Even if you show your palm, it won't turn off the alarm.
The most interesting thing about the WatchOS 9.4 update is the Sleep Focus mode. In many ways, this is a great addition. For example, the watch will not turn off the alarm if the user sleeps with their hand on the screen.
OTHER FEATURES IN WATCHOS 9.4 RELEASE NOTES:
This update makes the Apple Watch better in a lot of ways. Users will also get a cycle tracking feature in addition to the sleep focus mode. This new feature lets you figure out when you ovulated in the past. Users in Moldova and Ukraine will also be able to get alerts when the cycle changes. Fib History is available to Apple Watch users in Moldova, Ukraine, Thailand, Malaysia, and Colombia.
According to the release notes for WatchOS 9.4, users will be able to use new emoji characters like a blackbird, donkey, peapod, hyacinth, shaking head, and more. The beta version of the WatchOS 9.4 update is now available, and it should be out sometime next week. Apple is also testing beta versions of iOS 16.4, iPadOS 16.4, macOS 13.3, and tvOS 16.4.
